MAL PELO. María Muñoz & Pep Ramis

María Muñoz and Pep Ramis founded the Mal Pelo dance company in January 1989.

From the very start the group has based its work on a constant search for languages. This search has seen the development of different theatrical proposals. For its first years in existence the company toured worldwide, combining this with periods of creation in different countries.

Since 1989, the shows performed by Mal Pelo have included  Quarere, Sur-Perros del Sur, Dol, La Calle del Imaginero, Orache, El Alma del Bicho , L´animal a l’esquena, Atrás los ojos, An el silenci , Bach, Atlas, Testimoni de llops, He visto caballos, Todos los nombres, Caín & amp, La esperanza de vida de una liebre, El quinto invierno, 7 Lunas, The Mountain, The Truth & amp, The Paradise, On Goldbeg Variations/Variations, Inventions.

In 2001, Pep Ramis and María Muñoz founded L’animal a l’esquena, a centre for multi-disciplinary creation and exchange in Girona.

Awards received by Mal Pelo include the National Dance Award 2002 from the Catalan Government. The National Dance Award 2009/ Creative Section from the INAEM-Ministry of Culture. The City of Barcelona 2017 Dance Award. The Critic’s Award, Barcelona 2018, for the performance of Bach by María Muñoz, and the Critic’s Award to Federica Porrello as best performer.

Improvisation

Mal Pelo offers a workshop where one can experiment with the mechanisms of action and what they unchain. A view of the bodily movement and writing in action. Precision, duration, commitment, intensities, silences, absences, presences, punctuation, habitability, capitulation, phrasing, linearity, temporality, musicality, rhythm and writing are some of the terms that we will question during the course.

Actioning: 1- Carrying out an action. 2- Carrying out movements and gestures to explain something. 3- Commanding the action of a mechanism.
