Video Project
The students will devise, record and post-produce one-minute video dance works. The films will be shown as part of the Student Films section of Zinetika. Julien Grosvalet, Laura Colmenares, and Laida Aldaz will be the advisors for this workshop.
JULIEN GROSVALET
Born in Saint-Nazaire in 1980, Julien began dancing when he could barely walk.
After training at the Conservatoire de Nantes, he left France and went to Brussels, Belgium, where he continued and completed his training at P.A.R.T.S., the school led by Anne Teresa De Keersmaeker. In 2002, he joined the Centre Chorégraphique National de Nantes (CCNN) and danced in all of the work of Claude Brumachon.
The company R14 emerged in 2015. Julien Grosvalet developed his choreographic investigations and first creations. At the same time, he responded to various commissions as the choreography for the video clip Bleu Lagon by the group Mansfield TYA.
In 2020, he attended a training course for choreographers Édition Spéciale #4 at the Centre National de la Danse (CND) in Pantin.
In 2021, Julien Grosvalet created M.A.D. with La Fraicheur, the DJ and electronic music producer, and 8 performers.
From 2022 to 2024, R14 is in long-term residency at the Kiosque – Centre d’Action Culturel Mayenne Communauté for two seasons.
After having stopped dancing for a while because of injuries, Julien decided to come back on the stage with i Aïe i (creation 2023).
At the same time, he is developing dance and video dance workshops that he is deploying in France and abroad.
LAIDA ALDAZ
She trained at the Official Dance School of the Government of Navarre and at P.A.R.T.S., with scholarships from the Government of Navarre and the European Community. She collaborates with various choreographers and teaches at festivals and international schools.
A multidisciplinary artist, she creates, directs and produces works such as the film The Room, which won awards at the Light Dance Festival (CA) and Dance Camera North Minneapolis (USA), among others, as well as the show In Perspective, presented in renowned venues such as the Guggenheim Museum in Bilbao, the Royal Palace of Aranjuez, the Institute of Architecture of the Basque Country and many other emblematic places.
In 2023, she received the prestigious Leonardo Scholarship for research and creation from the BBVA Foundation. She is the founder and director of El Trastero Creativo and Zinetika Festival.
LAURA COLMENARES
Laura Colmenares Guerra is a Colombian-Belgian artist based in Brussels, whose practice intersects between technology, environmental awareness and installation art. Her work investigates the relationships between contemporary societies and nature, with a focus on ecosystems and environmental justice. Through immersive installations that combine traditional clay techniques with technologies such as CGI, GIS, virtual reality, and 3D printing, Laura creates experiences that invite physical and critical interaction with the environment.
She began her artistic journey as a video-performer in the underground techno scene of Bogotá, and over time evolved into experimental live audiovisual presentations. He currently maintains his link with electronic music as a DJ under the name ULARA and as part of the duo BPM EXPRESS. He has a master’s degree in Electronic Media and Arts of Time from the Universidad de los Andes, and a postgraduate degree in Transmedia Studies from the LUCA School of Arts in Brussels. She complements her practice with training in 3D printing, VFX and interactive media, and shares her expertise through workshops and classes at institutions in Europe and Latin America.
