Akira Yoshida

Akira Yoshida began breakdancing informally with his friends. Over the years, he began to compete, winning more than 60 awards in Spain, France, and Austria. At 23 he began a transition to contemporary dance and the performing arts. He performed the duet Azala for the Jordi Vilaseca company. After receiving the Principal Artistic Scholarship of Navarre, he did his artistic studies at SEAD (Salzburg Experimental Dance Academy).

He has worked with the companies Hungry Sharks in “Hidden in Plain Sight”, with Francisco Córdova’s company Physical Momentum in the play “To be”, with Roberto Oliván Performing Arts in his production “Cuculand Souvenir”, and has created “Ahotsak” with Ziomara Hormaetxe. He also created his own solo “Home”, with which he has toured for two years, and the duet “The Inglorious Fortune of Being a Performer”.

At the moment he is working with Lali Ayguadé on the creation of the duo “Gizaki” and with Chey Jurado on the creation of the duo “Hito”. He will soon be working with the Lali Ayguadé Company on his new big production “Hidden”, and the Swiss company Idem will create a solo about him. He currently combines performances with workshops around the world.
